Delphi International supports non-profit and public service organizations. Delphi is a leader in fully integrating business and the community by building inspiring and innovative services. We strive to make a positive difference in people's lives through service and technology-related projects. To ensure that educational presentation tools, like Something's in the Air, reach diverse groups, regardless of socio-economic background, we are working with public agencies, other companies, foundations, youth development agencies, and NGO's who share this mission.

Delphi's Something's in the Air delivers a set of tools, curricula, and hands-on problem solving activities to learn about:

  • California's unique climate, geography, and population patterns

  • why we should care about what happens to the air

  • the major sources of air pollution

  • the major effects and health impacts of pollution

  • a wealth of resources on transportation, commute and ride alternatives, solutions, science, policies, issues, health, and incentives to learn more

Air quality is polluted in California. In the San Francisco Bay Area it is still polluted but it has been improving through the actions of people. Delphi uses its software to visibly show that there is a connection between our choices and our actions and that what we do as individuals directly affects air pollution.

Air pollution threatens the health of human beings and other living things. So we take a ride through California offering helicopter and airplane style fly throughs. While often invisible, pollutants in the air create serious environmental, economic and health damage—and contribute to global climate change. What if you could see what's in the air? The software can be used in a variety of ways. It is especially useful as a living demonstration of what the major sources of pollution are, what the numbers and equations behind emissions are, and the story behind what smog and health problems mean. It involves people in hands-on problem solving activities and experiences—it offers unbiased approaches to reducing the most serious sources of air pollution and alleviating the impacts of these sources on our health and the future costs of mitigation.

Something’s in the Air is a treasure trove of educational, research, presentation and training materials.

Within the high-quality CDROM and web-based programs are mini-kits for public group presentations, for children of all ages and for adults who want more information on the subject The kits are linked to materials that involve you in why what we do has consequences—some constructive and some destructive— and provides irresistible activities inviting everyone’s participation.

Mission:

  • To provide stimulating, knowledgeable, and in-depth educational materials which contribute to the understanding of air quality resources, issues and standards

  • To make even the most daunting scientific findings about air pollution easy to understand through visualizations and multimedia presentations

  • To increase public knowledge of the link between air quality, pollution sources and community responsibility

  • To increase awareness of the vital connections between our health and the quality of the air we breathe

  • To generate public awareness and maximize support of programs and policies to monitor and improve environmental quality

Delphi offers the program in a number of formats. The best way to obtain the list of materials and to adopt their use is to contact our volunteer coordinator for Something's in the Air at the following address: Something's in the Air Coordinator, (650) 802-9696 or send email to delphi@delphi-intl.com with the subject line: air quality.
